Healey 100S
Fourintune Garage has
been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to restore four 100S cars.
They are listed in the order that they were restored by the number given
at the factory. Geoff Healey's book,"The Healey Story" shows the record of
100S sales and gives names of who the car was invoiced to (dealer), the customer,
chassis, engine, and body numbers. Many lists of past and current owners
are kept worldwide with several cars still unaccounted for. |

This 100 S was the
first one to be restored by Fourintune and was purchased from Bill Wood
by Jerry Leonard in 1986. Geoff Healey's book,"The Healey Story" shows
that this car was sold to British Motor Car Distrib. of San Francisco.
The car was shown at the AHCA conclave held in Oklahoma in 1988 under a
tent with Fred Hunter's red 100 S. Carroll Shelby was the guest of honor
at that event and sat behind the wheel while telling of his days racing
a 100 S in Mexico. This restoration was documented in two publications,
CARROZZERIA 9 and the Pacific Center's Austin Healey magazine. Featured
on the cover of the Healey Magazine in February of 1988, a complete story
of the car's restoration appeared in both the April and May issues that
same year. Jerry Leonard's widow sold the car to it's present owner, Urs
Killer of Switzerland, in 1995. |

The only production
100S car produced in spruce green, 3504, was made for movie star, Jackie
Cooper. Cooper was an SCCA racer of some note and drove a spruce green
Austin-Healey 100, #13 prior to owning the 100S. The 1955 Sebring race
was the car's first outing where the car ran eighth driven by Cooper and
his co-driver, Roy Jackson-Moore, and finished fourteenth over-all. After
being raced by Cooper on the east coast from Cumberland to Watkins Glen,
the car was sold to various owners in the New York City area. Bill Wood
of Egremont, Massachusetts responded to a Road and Track ad that ultimately
led him to first the motor, numbered 1B222705, and then the car in April
of 1976. A complete restoration of 3504 was done by Fourintune in 1990
for Bill Wood. That August, the Healey made its debut in the racecar circle
at the Meadow Brook Concours. Later that year, the car was part of the "Sunday" car
show held at Limerock Racetrack. Bill Wood sold the car to a European buyer
in 1994, who recently offered the car for sale through a broker in London.
It is our understanding that the car has been purchased by a collector
from the Chicago area. |

Richard Hansen purchased various numbered 100S parts from Bill Wood in 1989. These parts included: the engine(#3801), trans, dash, cockpit trim, fuel tank, steering box, hood, trunk, and rear fenders. These parts along with an Austin Healey BN2 were put together to recreate a 100S that was originally shipped to Gough Industries in Los Angeles, CA. This 100S has always been represented as a car that was built up as a replica using numbered parts - some with the 3801 stampings. Fourintune completed this restoration in the fall of 1990 and the car was delivered to Road America, where the owner took it on the track during the lunchtime touring session. The car was vintage raced and used for the Colorado Grand before being sold to a man from Germany in 1997.

AHS 3802 was purchased by Robert Griffin from Murray Wells of Australia in December of 1999. It was shipped to Fourintune for a complete restoration in the fall of 2000. The current owner of the car has done extensive research of the 100S's history that was detailed in a feature article in the Nov./Dec. issue of Vintage Motorsport Magazine. This 100S had an extensive race history and had been repaired and modified by various owners. The exterior had been painted red, but has been returned to the original color scheme - white over lobelia. After winning last July at the BRIC concours, the car went to the Meadow Brook Hall concours race circle, where it also won. It was driven on the Colorado Grand Tour last fall and went to Italy this spring for the Mille Miglia. It is scehduled to be at the Open Roads event this June at Lake Tahoe.
